This policy explains what happens to the information you give us when you use this website. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

What you give us

When you fill in the quote form, we collect:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The town you're in
  • The service you're interested in, and how often, if you tell us
  • Anything you write in the space and message fields
  • Whether you agreed to be contacted, and whether you opted in to marketing email

What we collect automatically

  • Your IP address, used to check that the form is being filled in by a person rather than a bot. [DECISION PENDING: keep this only if the IP address stays in the stored record; if it's dropped from storage, reword to say it's used for the bot check and not retained.]
  • The page you submitted from, and the date and time.
  • Basic analytics data about how the site is used. See the cookies section below.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, to quote for the work, and to run the website. If you opt in separately, we also use your email address to send occasional tips and offers. We don't sell your information to anyone.

Who else handles it

Running a website means other companies process some of this data on our behalf. We don't sell your information, but it does pass through these services:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, delivers it to your browser, receives the form when you submit it, and stores a temporary copy of your enquiry.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that submissions come from people rather than bots. Unlike some alternatives, it doesn't track you across other websites.
  • Resend delivers the notification email that tells us you got in touch.
  • Google Analytics tells us how many people visit the site and which pages they read.

We may also share information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • The email containing your enquiry stays in our inbox, so we have a record of work we've quoted for and carried out.
  • The temporary copy held by our website system is deleted automatically after 90 days. It exists only so an enquiry isn't lost if the notification email fails to send.
  • Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting on our Google Analytics account.

Cookies

This site uses Google Analytics cookies (_ga and related) to count visits and understand which pages are useful. They don't identify you by name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. The bot check on our form doesn't set a tracking cookie.

Marketing email

We only send marketing email to people who ticked the separate marketing box on the form. Agreeing to be contacted about your enquiry doesn't put you on a mailing list. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also reply to any of our emails and ask to be removed.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details at the top of this page. We may need to keep some records where we have a legal or accounting reason to.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.

Security

Information you send through this site travels over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly secure, so we don't claim it is, but we limit what we collect and how long we keep it.
